Live here exclusively on Leafs TV, we present a party on Bay Street in the parking lot of the Air Canada Center. Within a minute or so we'll take you live to the action where Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Andy will give a quick speech. Here we go live to the scene.
Andy reaches platform
Andy: What a season this has been! Its been quite an interesting season. It was only the begining of the season where the hopes of a succesful season were very opique. We have earned back the hopes of one day becoming atop of the world once again. It's been a very stressful, very discouraging 40 years. But this year, all of this discouragement will end. This year, we'll be atop of the hockey world once again, and people will come to realize that the Toronto Maple Leafs are the true franchise of the hockey world! Ever since our first season game started back in October, we have been in the 1st place spot in the eastern conference, and we never gave up this position. We are the team to beat this year! I would like to thank the coaching staff and all of our other staff for there continueous support and endless work with our team. I'd also like to thank all of our players, for showing the world that we are a winnning team. We are so close to the title, and were not going to let the other teams get in the way! I would like to say congrats and good luck to General Manager Cor and his Boston Bruins team for making the playoffs, your team is going to be a very tough oppenment like all the other teams competing for the ultimate prize. Lastly I would like to present the season awards to the players.
Team MVP: This has been a very hard decision to make, obviously everybody on this team plays an important roll, but this one indivudual started out slow out in Calgary, came here and dominated. For the team MVP award is the power forward #68 Jaromir Jagr!!!
Team Leader: Like I said before, everybody plays an important roll on this team, but there is always that one player who sticks it out and proves he can be a leader. The player that has won this award, has been with the Leafs organization for a very very long time. He's a proven leader. As he hangs up the skates and call it a career, he'll be surely missed by every fan and every player. This years Leadership award goes to your Captain #13 Mats Sundin!!!
Team Playmaker: This award is for a person who lead the team in assists and has been a valide team player. This player also had a slow start in Calgary, but when they came here, magic happened. The winner of the playmaker award goes to #20 Kristian Huselius!!!
Team Rookie of the Year: This award obviously goes to the rookie of the year. We don't have many rookies in the roster, but one particular person who came onto the roster late has proven himself to be quite a threat. Although he may not be much of a rookie, he is still young. The winner of the Rookie of the Year award is to #9 Alexander Suglobov!!!
Team Goaltender of the Year: As many people think, this has to been an easy award to give. Well it's not. I've got 2 individuals to give this award to. Both have played spectacular between the pipes. Both exceeded expectations when given the nod. Although I lost one of them to injury after he climbed to the top of his game, I still had faith in the other, and I knew who could get the job done even if he had a rough start. For the goaltender of the year award I would like to present it to your starting goaltender #1 Andrew Raycroft!!!
That is all folks!!! Enjoy the Hamburgers and Hotdogs!!!
