So you have Photoshop, and your text always turns out plain in your sigs. This thread will explain (hopefully in an understandable way) how to get it to stand out and blend in with your sig.
First of all lets make sure you know how to use your fonts. Open a PS file. On the toolbar, click on the T, which is your text option. Near the top you should have text options like font, size, etc. Choose your options and type something in.
Secondly you might wanna download some interesting fonts from the net, most of the default ones suck, but check out the ones you have, some of them are decent. Once you do download a font though, save it somewhere on your computer.
Try getting them from www.1001freefonts.com/ or any other font site.
If you are using XP: Open up your control panel. Go to Appearance & Themes. Then on the left you will see a folder called fonts, click on that. The go to file>install new font. Open PS and try typing in text using the font you downloaded, if you don't see that font type then you did it incorrectly.
If you are using 98/ME: Go to your Control Panel and open up the fonts folder. You should be able to just drag the font in their but you might have to install new font like with XP. Then check and make sure you can use it in PS.
Now that you downloaded fonts that you like, its time to test them out. Open the PS file you want and type something with the font you want. If you want you can rotate your text a bit like I did with my sig. Find a suitable size and color for your font, usually white works well once you do some of the further steps but it never hurts to experiment with other colors.
Now the interesting part. Go to your layers panel which is located on the right (if you don't see it then go to window> and click on the layer option and it should appear. Right click on your text layer, and click on blending options. A new window should come up. Play around with the different options if you want, but theres only a few that you might want to use. I would recommend using a drop shadow which helps with the blending. You might wanna add an outer glow if you have a light scheme to your sig. Also double click on outline I think its called (its the bottom most option) usually you only want a 1pt outline, it always is set at 3 for default. Plus you will wanna change the colour, so click on the colour pallet and choose a colour that blends well with your sig.
Then your text should like mine! or at least close to it lol
Got any questions then just ask me and i'll explain it further to you
And coming this weekend look for a detailed background tutorial!
